Almost a week now since I arrived, the first 4 days being involved at the pilates conference was amazing. I was a Volunteer, and it was the 7th World Conference for Polestar Pilates which is the association of pilates I did my training through. There were over 300 particpiants from all over the world. There was a mixture of lectures/ guest speakers and movement classes from a vast range of people of all professional pilates back ground. We listened to speakers from New Zealand, Dr Libby, www.drlibby.com she had some very important messages, look on her website for her books and info, also James Oschman had a great message to regain your body with nature, basically take off your shoes and let your soul be connected to the powerful energy that naturally comes from the earth. There was an exhibit hall with many different stalls, socks especially for pilates to equipment. Oh I could write forever as we crammed so much into the 3 days, some of the movement classes were incredible with ladies and men displaying fabulous body movement after years of pilates. As a volunteer I had to help at the movement classes to make sure everyone was OK and the instructors were happy. Super easy job.
The most I will take from the conference is that pilates is a fantastic way to move your body while creating inner calm through breath and incorporating many other aspects of health to the practise, as humans we have been forced to look within for answers to lifes dis-eases and stresses that we all can have to much of. Cortisol is the hormone produced by stress and it is a very powerful deadly hormone. Try and have a stress free life, take your shoes off connect with nature and have as much love in your life as possible. I am so lucky to be a kiwi, we have the best place to take your shoes off, we don’t even need to wear them to the shop ( pyjamas accepted too, ha ha ). The pilates wrap up was a splendid white party at the Hilton, Bayfront. First each country displayed there movement to music for all to see. Then a smorgesboard dinner followed by dancing.
Oh sad it was over, Michele who I work for in gissy, www.michelefrankspilates.co.nz and I now have a couple of days to sight see around San Diego. We visited almost every shop in the Gas Lamp area, hired bikes and rode to Mission Beach and Pacific beach, went to the museum and watched a 3D movie with Kelly Slater in Tahiti, enjoyed some nice mexican food and taking in all the smells and sights around the downtown area. Lots of friendly people, lots of tramps too and high heels, lil dogs oh the list is endless. I am excited to meet up with my cousin tomorrow and spend a night with her and her family, then on to meet up the surfers healing crew. www.surfershealing.com
love to all….xx
